FUSE Newsletter 08 March 2008
Dear Friends,
It has been just one week since the Friends of the University for the South East (FUSE) launched the campaign, to help support the drive for a university in the South East region. Last Saturday 120,000 flyers were delivered through the national press to formally launch the initiative and to make everyone aware of how much this issue means to us all.
Since then a lot of work has been done to build upon this level of awareness. FUSE made appearances on a number of regional radio stations, talking to everyone about what is going on and how everyone can get involved with this drive. The circle of friends is also increasing with more and more people from a wide range of backgrounds coming together, to give their time and effort to help the campaign.
Letters of support and e-mails are coming in steadily and your kind words are greatly appreciated, please keep them coming, your voices and support matter so much to the success of this campaign.
On Saturday, FUSE flyers were distributed to various retail outlets around Waterford. This Sunday, 9th March, FUSE members will be present at the Wexford vs. Kilkenny National Hurling League match in Wexford Park. Make sure to come and talk to us about the campaign, your words of support will make all the difference. More events are also planned for around the region over the coming days and weeks.
This Tuesday, 12th March, an essay competition for schools in the South East region will be launched. Children will write essays on the subject of "What a university for the South East means to me" and will compete to win a new computer for their school and also a 500 Euro voucher for themselves.
Many prominent Irish sports stars and other well-known personalities have also given their support to the campaign; keep your eyes open for more to follow on this.
Above all, your continued support will help to bring everyone together and give us the loudest voice possible to be heard, so that a university will be delivered. We all still have a big role to play! We need to keep talking to our friends, family, and neighbours about the campaign. Pass on the web link to the flyer to everyone you know (http://www.se4u.org/press/flyer-01032008.pdf) and keep those letters of support coming in. Together we will succeed!
Best Wishes,
Friends of the University for the South East
